Ward & Paula Smith
About Ward & Paula Smith
I have been surfing since 1961 and still surf about 200 days per year. I retired from Santa Cruz City Schools in June of 2010. I like to surf, read, garden, and work on projects on the 10 ares where I live in the Santa Cruz Mountains. Paula is also retired and likes reading, a variety of crafts, walking, and the lounging around the tropics (which works for me). We both love to travel.
Why Ward & Paula Smith chose Princeville
We love the North Shore of Kauai which is amazingly green, littered with spectacular waterfalls, blessed with a slow pace, and still somewhat rural. It also has some of the best surf spots and beaches in the world. We were looking for a quiet and peaceful condo on the North Shore within walking distance of the beach and a short jaunt to a variety of surf spots. We also appreciate that is is less than 40 miles from the airport and the town of Lihue.
What makes this Condo unique
Our condo is in the back of our small complex off of the street. We enjoy sitting on our peaceful lanai with beautiful views of the golf course in the foreground and mountains in the background. Fifteen feet from our lanai, there is a dirt, tree-lined pathway that leads to a relatively secluded beach which we can walk to in about 5 minutes. We can also walk to Princeville shopping center in about 10 minutes and drive to Hanalei bay in less than 10 minutes. We often hang around the lovely pool located 50 feet from the front door of our condo. On Friday afternoons we often drive 5 minutes to the Hanalei Bay Resort to listen to Hawaiian music during happy hour.

Great place to stay while visiting the North of Kauai
This place felt like home. It had all we need to make us feel relaxed. The bed was very comfortable, the kitchen had everything we needed to make our own breakfast and cook our own meals. Even some spices and salt and pepper, which seems like a detail but if you travel by air everything you have to drag from home counts! After our hikes, it was wonderful to relax on the lanai or walk the path to the beautiful beach. Trips to explore the Northern part of the Island were never more than 15-20 minutes by car, which is great if you want to drive as little as possible. We washed everything by hand, but the condo has a dishwasher. We used the washing machine and dryer once, it was great to continue our Hawaiian vacation to other islands with a set of clean clothes! We highly recommend this place, we had a hard time leaving!
Perfect for a laid back honeymoon
My husband and I stayed here for 10 days during our honeymoon and we loved it! We appreciated having access to a full kitchen to cook as we pleased. Being located right on the golf course made it very quiet and peaceful and we enjoyed many breakfasts on the deck overlooking the golf course together. Location is fantastic being a short drive away from beautiful Hanalei and a 10-15 minute walk down to the beach. Cute, clean and comfy. We would definitely stay here again!
My husband and I absolutely loved our stay in this Princeville condo. The location was fantastic, and the space itself was very clean and comfortable. We would definitely stay here again should our travels bring us back to Kauai.
Everything was very good. We would come again.
It was beautiful! Pretty quiet and easy to find! Everyone around was super nice and accommodating. Great location and a lot of stuff to do around that area!
Nice place if you love golfing and surfing
The condo was lovely. You'll find everything you need for a holiday stay. The bathroom and the kitchen are quite big. The living room is equiped with a TV. The next beach is located at a 15 min foot walk. Stores and restaurants are also only 10 min foot walk away. The locations is ideal for golfers and surfers. The prices at the local store and surrounding restaurants are therefore very high. Prices are more moderate at the next town 10 min away (by car).
