Very nice!

  • 4 of 5

House was as advertised, but more importantly owners responded to issues with speed and effiency. A/C went out as did TV. Quickly had A/C fixed over 4th of July weekend and replaced the TV the next morning. They were very attentive. Everything you could need was on hand and location excellent.

Cute house near eastern market

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay in this cute home. We had a group of 7 people and there was plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen was well stocked with spices and condiments in the fridge. There was also things like flour, sugar, and other food in the cubbards. We spent most nights playing cards and relaxing on the deck. The metro is three blocks away along with the circulator bus. Thank you Meg for the great stay.

Warm and charming house. Loved all the antiques and books!

  • 5 of 5

Though or trip was not for a vacation or for fun in DC it made our trip more comfortable and less stressful not having to deal with a hotel. It was the perfect place to be after dealing with our flight from Florida which was delayed 5 times and arriving 6 hours late especially since I was transporting my husband's ashes to have a soldiers burial at Arlington Cemetery. The house was warm and charming. It will always be in our family's memory. We would definitely book again it was in walking distance to the metro Eastern Market and restaurants it would be a great place to explore DC and the surrounding area. Thanks again Meg for making our stay comfy and memorable hope to return again ! Sara, Audrey, Nicholas and Sal...

Ideal location, well stocked kitchen, charming home.

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful home with lots of charm. Great layout as we could spend time together but get away as well. Kitchen well stocked, close to groceries, and the metro. What a wonderful place to come home to after a busy day sightseeing.

Lovely historic house

  • 4 of 5

We recently stayed in this lovely, historic, and conveniently located house. Three generations of family enjoyed this house despite a few minor issues.

The good:

Good-sized, light, airy bedrooms

Large kitchen with additional seating in the dining for all 8 in our party

Lovely and charming house

Conveniently located to metro stop

Walkable to restaurants and shops (must try Acqua Al 2, yummy gelato at Pitango Gelato, and a very good breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien)

Meg was accommodating (when we showed up too early for check in!) and friendly.

Minor issues:

One of the beds in the tower room is on wheels, and rolled across the floor in the middle of the night-- much to the surprise of one of my children

Tower room, while charming, lacks sufficient cooling- it's my understanding that the owners are working to rectify this.

Could use a deep clean

Oddly, a lot of left over food was in the refrigerator.

We couldn't figure out how to work the oven, and only two of the rings on the stove seemed to work.

None of the minor issues were major enough to mention to the owners (but other renters/travellers might want to be aware), and did not really negatively affect our enjoyment of the house or area.

Owner's Response: Great feedback! There is a new bed in the tower and we didn't realize it could roll - will attend to that. We do leave fresh milk or cream in the fridge for morning coffee, as well as condiments on the fridge door for guest use and frozen fruit in the freezer for use of the Vitamixer. We do it to save guests money and time, but there has been some confusion. I wrote on the check-in note that guests should help themselves to anything in tthe fridge or cabinets, but will also leave a note on the fridge. And we have found an additional cooling unit for the tower, so things should be quite comfy.

Good location and nice home with character

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time overall during our stay in DC. This home was well priced, in a convenient location close to Eastern Market, and was very well stocked with the exception of a microwave oven, which is a necessary amenity when traveling with young children. Also, there is a good bit of ambulance traffic going up 8th St at night due to a hospital about 4 blocks away.
