Perfect Getaway for 2
We loved this tiny house in Volcano! We were impressed by all the nice touches that the owners provided to make our stay wonderful-the fresh flowers and a treat when we arrived plus much more. This lil house had everything we needed. It was beautifully set in the rainforest. We loved hanging out on the porch and listening to the birds!
The owners provided info on the area and were responsive to our questions.
Property was close to Volcano National Park.
Getaway in a Rain Forest
We enjoyed three nights at this wonderful tiny house, Hale Ike. Lots of good restaurants nearby, Ohelo Cafe and the Kilauea Lodge. One night we had steaks on the BBQ and that was lovely. Fresh eggs and fresh flowers were much appreciated.
Made our trip magical
This is a wonderful tiny house nestled in a tropical grove, convenient to Volcano, Volcano National Park, and the other sites to see near Hilo. The house itself is about 10 x 20 feet, with a lanai the same size as the house.
It is the perfect size for a couple, and the house and views are so beautiful that we organized our time so we could eat breakfasts and dinners at the house rather than going to a restaurant. The tiny kitchen has everything needed to prepare a good meal, and the grill outside is more than enough to grill whatever you would like to prepare.
The house is completely isolated from other the other houses in the area. We arrived at night and sat for a bit listening to sounds of the rainforest, and went to bed with the windows open and woke to the sounds of tropical birds. We spent a rainy evening on the lanai in front of the fire, listening to the sound of the rain on the roof and in the trees.
This house provides an incredible connection with nature that would not be possible in a bigger place; you truly feel as if you are immersed in the forest.
The hosts are exactly the reason why I love VRBO; we had a number of email conversations prior to arriving and they were wonderful and personable and made us feel like old friends. It was obvious that they wanted us to have the best time we could, and they did so much to make it possible, with little personal touches everywhere. They, and this house, made our stay a magical experience.
Perfect private jungle oasis
Everything about this place is perfect if you are visiting sites in and around Volcano National Park. The check in was easy, the house has everything you need to cook and or grill, and the lanai was the perfect spot to hang out day or night. They have also gone above and beyond- offering fresh baked cookies, ingredients for pancakes and s’mores and insider tips for things to do nearby. We had an absolute blast!
Tiny House with Big Surprises
Hale Iki was a refreshing end to a 10 day Hawaii vacation for my husband and I. The house is immaculate, comfortable and located in a beautiful setting with orchids lining the driveway. Wonderful welcome gifts included a bottle of wine, ingredients for S-mores, fresh eggs and supplies for morning pancakes. The home is small but very well organized and an inviting front porch to expand the space. It is a five minute drive to Volcano Park, restaurants and an ACE hardware. There are areas of the park closed but we did the steam vent trail, rim trail, desolation trail and did the easy and beautiful drive to the arches at the ocean. In my opinion, there was still an abundance of activities. I highly recommend Ohelo for dinner but be sure to make reservations.
Mark and his wife were fabulous communicators with excellent detail to arrival and departure. There is a binder in the home with great ideas for travel. We did the southern tip suggestions and found them all worthy of the time.
There is not heat in the home but we had no issues with the unusually cool temperatures. Cozy blankets were provided and the home warmed nicely during the day. In addition, the porch has a fire pit for you to enjoy the wine or a cup of coffee. Cell service can be spotty. It seemed to work best on our I phones right next to the front door.
There is so much more I could say about this Tiny House. It is truly our favorite memory of the entire trip.
The tiny house was beautiful and in a wonderfully secluded place. The perfect place to unplug and simply relax. There were personal touches added - s'mores and other little goodies to add to the overall experience. Even though it was off the beaten path -we were able to find a place right up the road to do light grocery shopping and enjoy a couple beers with some locals.
I would highly recommend this house and working with this host. It was a perfect vacation.
Our little Volcano Village is the perfect spot to relax. Slightly cooler with less humidity and vog than most of the island, it’s a hidden rainforest retreat! Volcano Village is a small town just Hilo side of Volcanoes National Park. While the park is the major attraction, Volcano is a beautiful little artist community and great resting spot for seeing the east side of the island with it's rainforest, orchid gardens, winery, hiking trails, farmers markets -- it's simply an amazing place. PLUS, we have some great tips on seeing some lava from a very safe distance. We hope you will come discover it for yourself, and love it just as much as we do!
