We invite you to come and stay at Asheville's only 'COZY BEAR COTTAGE' - A Beary Nice Place

Our 'Cozy Bear Cottage' will provide you with a very comfortable and serene place to stay during your visit to Asheville and the surrounding area. Our cottage is located in East Asheville and it is only a ten-minute drive to downtown Asheville. You will have easy and quick access to I-40, I-240, and I-26 which provides the ability to quickly get to places such as the Biltmore Estate, Black Mountain, Grove Park Inn, as well as music venues, restaurants and shops in downtown Asheville. The cottage is located on a well-maintained private road in a very quiet and safe setting. Access to the Blue Ridge Parkway is 2.5 miles away and from there it’s a short drive to either Mount Pisgah to the south or Mount Mitchell to the north. (check out the Folk Art Center just as you get onto the Blue Ridge Parkway) Drive to Chimney Rock and take in the tremendous views from on top and then go to Lake Lure and enjoy a very nice guided-tour on a pontoon boat. Check out Navitat Canopy Adventures in Barnardsville, NC to experience a unique and fantastic zip lining experience (zip and walk through the treetops in the day or night time).

The cottage has three roomy bedrooms, two full baths, a well-equipped kitchen, comfortable living room with a 37” HDTV, large and wide wrap around deck, premium hot tub with built-in sound system, fire pit, and a newly install six foot wooden fence along the side and rear of property. Please refer to the photos that have been provided to give you more details about the cottage as well.

Our family has found that traveling to Asheville will provide you with an almost overwhelming amount of things to do and see. In addition to the places mentioned above our cottage is just minutes away from first class golfing, art museums, various hiking and biking trails, white water rafting in the French Broad River in the spring and summer months and in the winter months go snow skiing and snowboarding at either Cataloochee Ski Resort in Maggie Valley, NC or Wolf Ridge Ski Resort in Mars Hill, NC. Lake James is close by for your enjoyment as well.

Downtown Asheville is a great place to spend some time and you will experience wonderful dining, music, and shopping. Some of our favorite places to eat are Sunny Point, Early Girl Eatery, Over Easy Café, French Broad Chocolate Lounge, Laughing Seed, Tupelo Honey, Bouchon French Bistro, Vinnie's Italian Restaurant, Heiwa Shokudo Japanese Restaurant, Olive or Twist, and many, many other fine restaurants. Enjoy a fun night out for a wide variety of music playing at the Orange Peel or Civic Center. Usually on Friday nights there will be a drum circle gathering that just happens along with numerous performances on the street corners. Another interesting place is the Sky Bar where you can view the surrounding city and mountains and watch a beautiful sunset from a unique outside venue. In the spring and summer enjoy a baseball game at the historic McCormick Field. There are also numerous seasonal festivals to attend. From the large to small shops in the downtown area all are very unique and and provide an almost endless array of selections. Fun and memorable times can be had by all and your days and nights will seem to pass quickly so please plan your mountain adventure carefully so you can take advantage of all that Asheville and the surrounding area have to offer.

We sincerely hope that you will come and enjoy a trip to Asheville and make our 'Cozy Bear Cottage' a relaxing and comfortable part of it all. Just send us an email inquiry or give us a call at 352-538-5645 and we will be glad to assist you.

About the Owner

We are originally from North Carolina and for the past seventeen years have enjoyed living and raising our children in North Central Florida. Traveling to the North Carolina mountains and especially the Asheville area has always been an enjoyable and adventuresome experience. The beauty, serenity, and peacefulness of the area is the alluring factor. There just seems to always be something new and interesting to see and experience because of the seasonal changes in the climate. Chefs from all over the world have opened resturants in Asheville and have produced an extraordinary variety of excellent dining options for us to enjoy as well. We have two dogs (Husky and American Eskimo) that enjoy our trips to the mountains as well to hike and enjoy the wonderful mountain weather. We like calling Carolina home and so might you.

Perfect place in Asheville!!

  • 5 of 5

A group of 8 of us friends were looking for a house near Asheville as we wanted to go river tubing there and hang out in Asheville for the weekend. This house was perfect! It was very clean and organized when we got there and getting the keys and into the house was a simple process. The outdoor deck is great - we were able to use the grill multiple times, the hot tub was good fun and it was nice to just sit outside with a cocktail and listen to our friend play songs on her ukulele! The kitchen was also perfect and well stocked - we cooked breakfast one morning there and it had everything. The location was also good - it only took us about 15 mins to get to the river tubing place which was a ton of fun and it was only about 10 minutes to get downtown. Our only regret was not staying longer but hopefully we can rent it in the future for more days!

It's all in the details

  • 5 of 5

For our first stay in Asheville, we needed a place for our family, including our golden retriever. To say that the Cozy Bear Cottage met our needs would be an understatement. It exceeded them on every level! From the hot tub on the porch that our boys loved using after a long day hiking, to the extremely clean facilities, to the custom-made soaps that "bear" the Cozy Bear logo, you won't find a more relaxing place to stay while you're discovering Asheville. It is a quiet cabin-like setting with all the modern conveniences. And from providing excellent information about where to go hiking to mailing us the dog leash that we forgot after we left, Tony was a perfect host. If we ever visit Asheville again, the Cozy Bear Cottage will be the place where we relax and recharge the batteries!

Great family reunion

  • 5 of 5

We had a nice stay at the Cozy Bear! We had 4 adults and 5 boys ages 3-8. We had plenty of indoor space, as well as plenty of yard space to run around. The kitchen was well stocked with supplies, the bathrooms were nice, and the porch was a great space for the adults to enjoy coffee while the kids played. The hot tub was comfortable and fun, and we used the fire pit to roast s'mores. The house is conveniently located close to downtown and within driving distance of many of the areas attractions. We appreciated how well the AC worked! My only complaint is that the queen sized bed was very noisy. We had a great time reuniting with family.

Great Stay at the Cozy Bear

  • 5 of 5

We had an absolutely awesome stay at the Cozy Bear Cottage! Tony was very responsive with communication from the first time we contacted him. The house is lovely, clean, and comfortable, and Tony promptly helped us out with anything we needed. With just a short drive to the town and to the mountains, we had plenty to do. The house was well equipped with everything that we needed.

Beautiful house in Asheville

  • 5 of 5

The Cozy Bear Cottage is a beautiful house in Asheville! It was very spacious and my family of five plus two dogs were very comfortable here. It has everything you would need. The mornings and evenings spent on the porch were my favorite. It was very private and felt like home. Tony was so easy to work with and replied quickly to any questions I had. The location was perfect and convenient to driving into downtown Asheville. I would definitely bring my family to stay here when we come back to visit Asheville!

Wonderful experience!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time using VRBO and I cannot imagine a better experience. My family travelled to Asheville for a wedding and renting a cottage was a nice alternative to staying in a local hotel. It was actually less expensive than renting the three separate rooms we would have needed.

The Cozy Bear Cottage is adorable! Tony and Rose have provided anything you can think of to make you feel welcome and your stay as comfortable as possible. We were even able to take our dog and the fenced in yard made that perfect as well.

I wish I could give them 10 stars!!

Location

From the Owner

Asheville, NC has been called the 'Paris of the South' and is an interesting place to visit to experience a wide variety of cusines, music, shopping, hiking, biking and just to enjoy the mountain life.

Activity and Interests

Car: recommended

Close to major highways (I-40, I-240, & I-26), however feels rual in a beautiful mountain setting, does not require long difficult driving and is on a private paved road. Close to grocery stores and can drive to downtown Asheville in ten minutes and the town of Black Mountain in fifteen minutes. There are lots of wonderful local food resturants and shopping.in both towns. Close to area hiking and short drive away is Wolf Laurel ski resort, white water rafting and zip lining at Navitat Canopy Adventures.
