About the Owner

My family built this house in 1979. The property was purchased from the next door neighbor on the left. We grew up renting that house! We have pictures of mom when she was a teenager sitting in the bird bath that still graces the lawn by the lake.

Great location, perfect rental!

  • 5 of 5

This home is centrally located, it was an easy drive to the casinos and to the Richardson resort campground. It is also a great location because the yard is fenced, making it perfect for little ones. Right in front of the house is a public park, and the lake. It's a very short walk to a non-crowded beach area. Every evening we enjoyed spectacular sunsets over the mountains! Every morning we enjoyed coffee out on the back deck. We had a large family gathering here, and ate all of our meals outside on the large picnic table. I think a large group would be harder in the winter due to a small dining area inside. The hot tub is large and perfect location for watching the lake while soaking. A longer stay was made easier by the convenient washer and dryer, and fully stocked kitchen. If you extra towels would've been welcomed. If you remember, bring your own. The house itself is older, but creatively decorated in a cabin theme, with wood hewn furniture. The sleeping areas were very comfortable, the double queen room is very large, and can accommodate several children on sleeping bags on the floor.

We adored this house, it is a perfect rental, and look forward to returning again so I'm here in the future! A great location for a large family gathering. Next time we will bring a kayak or paddleboard, though the rentals are only a short walk down the park. I can't imagine a better location at a more reasonable price.

Charming

  • 5 of 5

We stay in Lake Tahoe every year as a family and our family started to out grow the other cabin we used to stay in. This was our first year in this cabin and we loved it! The cabin is much bigger inside than the pictures make it appear. The hot tub and back deck were great with plenty of space! All the furniture was really nice and sturdy but with lots of classic Tahoe charm. The kitchen was well stocked with over 20 glasses and plates each. Also we looked at staying at the cabin right next door but this place has a fenced backyard and the other does not. As we travel with two children the fenced backyard is a must. Absolutely loved this place!

Great location and fabulous view

  • 5 of 5

Worked for us with 2 small children as we could walk to park, lovely back yard with wire fence...hot tub. Some plastic dishes for small kids would be great but we enjoyed our stay. We will be back

A nice house in a great location.

  • 4 of 5

Overall impression of the property was very favorable. It is in a great location, with adequate parking. It was close to everything we needed. We had plenty of room, the bathrooms were nice. Having a washer and dryer in the house was very nice. The hot tub was great. Using the wifi was very easy. The large TV in the living room was great.

What could be improved was the furniture in the living room. It is a large room which was nice, but the sofa and chairs were so large that we need to take pillows from upstairs to put on the back of the furniture so we could sit comfortably. The kitchen was a bit disorganized as far as pots, pans, bowls and serving pans seeming to be all over. I only mention the previous because you asked our opinion. I would definitely recommend the property and would consider staying there again. It is a great place to stay in the winter or summer.

From the Owner

We built the house in 1979 after the next door neighbors sold us the lot. Been coming to this very spot since the 1930's, renting the house on the corner of Fresno and Lakeview next door. Walking down the street to the Barton Meadow is like walking back in time with Trout Creek, a gorgeous marsh with abundant wildlife and about a mile of pristine, undeveloped shoreline.

South Lake Tahoe is big enough to provide all of the amenities of a good sized town while still feeling small. Our neighborhood is Al Tahoe a historic neighborhood that traditionally only had summer-only homes. The 400 acre meadow at the end of the street Barton Meadows, is protected and a perfect place for a walk, x-c or snow shoe and has access to undeveloped shoreline. Hiking, Biking, Skiing, Boating, Fishing and more are at your fingertips here.
