100% refund if canceled at least 60 days before arrival date. 50% refund if canceled at least 30 days before arrival date.
My first impression was how nice this is to be across the street from Lake Erie and a park, but of course there is another park across the side street. But when Kelly showed us the place and how she had breakfast for us the next day with sausage, eggs, juice, and much more in the fridge, wow! That is a first! Oh, and did I mention the apple tree in front and pear tree in back? I ate at least one of each off the tree every day! I felt like I was in the garden on Eden! (Minus the snake) Thank you!
Nightmare on West Erie Avenue Lorain Ohio
Broken handle on toilet in master bedroom. Broken storm door handle in front. Upstairs bed collapsed made unusable. Huge water leak in the ceiling of kitchen. 1 shower for 8 people for 2 days due to leak. Owners son threatened to kill my son because he questioned the owner about refund for this. Had to move to motel for a night do repairs could be made.
I strive to make sure all our guests have an enjoyable stay and I truly regret that you had any issues during yours. That being said it’s unfortunate that some important key elements were missing from your review. Two days into your stay, you called to inform me something was wrong with a toilet. I said I would stop at store for parts and fix within an hour or so. You offered to have husband or son do the quick repair rather than have me inside. I should have insisted because another part got broken in the process and then another 2 hours later you called about a leak into the kitchen below. This turned out to be from a curiously loose bolt at bottom of toilet tank.
Kindly recall another call you made to me to request I fix the bed that deflated when one of the teenagers in your group unplugged it...”collapsed”, well, I guess you could say that!
Then, let’s address the dispute between our sons. Your son decided not to stay in hotel that evening and instead showed up while I was there as promised to make the repair. He immediately approached me, screaming about the one night refund I offered. He hovered over me, he followed up to the bathroom and back down, continually accosting me. It was all I could do but quietly leave, my body shaking with fear and trembling hands could barely get key into car. I let you know I would complete repairs as long as he was not present. You said you would all be gone early next morning so I could finish then. But guess who again stayed behind? When I told you I would call the police this time, he left. My son decided to accompany me to assist with quick repair and keep me calm because I was once again trembling at the thought of confrontation. Guess who returned moments after we arrived! So yes, my son demanded that your son leave the property at once. My son was protecting me. Never did he threaten his life and it had nothing to do with the refund. For clarification, both our sons are grown men and tall, powerfully built men. If your son feared mine, just imagine how I had feared your son!!!
You called Homeaway and told them I was not responding to your calls or emails even though I had answered every single one of your calls immediately , showed up within 2 hours initially and then had to repeated my promise to make repair the next day but couldn’t arrive in your chosen time frame of the afternoon instead of evening. Homeaway suggested the hotel overnight as you were being disagreeable to other options. Yes, I originally thought the leak must be from a shower since we had that problem last year, but I told you to not be inconvenienced and I would clean up any mess made when I came later to do the repair. Turns out, it was the mysteriously sudden loose bolt on toilet tank that was causing the leaks in kitchen. But between me saying to continue to use the shower and you having a hotel option, I am sorry that you somehow felt that you only had one shower for 2 days.
The bottom line, the repairs were made once the police asked your son to leave but otherwise would have been made in 2 hours if I hadn’t allowed one of your family members to make the initial small repair. And even with the complications of your repair attempt gone bad, I was there within 24 hours to clean up and make repairs...until accosted by your son.
Even still, when all was complete, I kindly wished you an enjoyable balance of your stay. I even apologized for my son, as I know had acted quite upset as he guarded me.
I will be forever grateful that your older son approached me the following day to apologize for his younger brother who was a “bully”, that I “ didn’t deserve to be treated that way,” that I “ had been wonderful” and that he and his wife “loved this house!”
We loved the house and its closeness to the beach, wonderful weather and the porch was amazing;
Nice stay. Perfect location, but disappointed with some things.
We enjoyed our family time together.
It had plenty of room for four adults and a toddler. It was nicely decorated. The view of the lake couldn't be beat. Truly a million dollar view. It was nice and clean with all the essentials. However, we were disappointed that the dryer wasn't working: but we were given the option to do laundry at another rental by the owner. We were also disappointed that the jetted tub didn't work, nor was there a massage table like in the picture. All of the lights in the attic room blew and my daughter got shocked when trying to replace a bulb. I did inform the owner of everything mentioned and she let me know that she is working on getting all of the problems repaired so hopefully others will be able to enjoy what is advertised.
I am so glad that you enjoy the gorgeous Lakeview and surroundings as well as the clean comfortable home. Again I certainly apologize that the dryer had recently broken and was awaiting a part. It was repaired shortly after your departure. I truly apologize for the confusion with the massage table. You had asked for information and I gave you the contact information for the two companies that offer on-site services. That would include bringing their own equipment. The table pictured wasn’t meant to say that I left one there for your use and I certainly hope not to mislead others by that photo as it is simply meant to depict some of the extra things you can enjoy during your stay. And as for the electric in the attic, as you know I hired an electrician who researched everything and found only that one light bulb was burnt out and the other was loose. He checked extensive wiring even in the crawlspace to make sure nothing was loose or dangerous and determined that with the changing weather and static electricity was what caused your adult daughter to feel a shock. But I’m certainly glad I was able to have a professional confirm that there will be no serious issues for future guests. I am sorry that she got shocked. I know static electricity has gotten me before and caused me to jump even in my own home. I hope I addressed any concerns herein as I strive to provide an enjoyable stay and remain happy to share our beautiful Lake Erie location with future guests.
We loved it here! We were shown such great hospitality...amazing communication! We rent homes for our construction crew when they are away from home. They were pleasantly surprised! Thank you for going out of your way for my guys! The added touch of having breakfast foods there for them, so that they didn't have to go grocery shopping until Monday morning was amazing! Your kindness was overwhelming! Thank you, and if we are ever in the area again we will definitely return to your rental!
Great house, great location!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Beacon. Everyone was impressed with the house, the cleanliness, and all the added touches that came with it.
Thanks to Kelly for making sure our stay was perfect!
