TV and Wifi

There is free wifi!

There is also an internet post service on Divisadero. They have printers as well. (Across the street and on the left on Divisadero)

The TV has cable with HBO and Showtime premium channels and OnDemand.

Kitchen Access

The onsite kitchen is stocked with cooking equipment. There is a cooler and ice packs in the freezer if you want to use for a picnic. We have a larger cooler if you need one. There is a gas grill in the back yard under the back stairs leading out of the kitchen.

The Haight Estate is centrally located and has ideal access to public transportation anywhere in the city and beyond. Here is information on how and where to buy public transportation passes: http://www.sfmta.com/getting-around/transit/fares-passes The closest place to buy bulk passes and a week long pass is: Walgreen's, 498 Castro Street, San Francisco, CA 94114

The "7" bus is on our block and travels both directions all the way from Ocean Beach, along the south side of Golden Gate Park, down Market Street and ending near the Bay in the South of Market neighborhood.  http://transit.511.org/accessible/schedules/routeinfo.aspx?cid=SF&rted=7

The "22" bus crosses Haight Street a few blocks away at Fillmore and will take you all the way north to the Marina and Fort Mason near the waterfront. Or you can pick up the "24" bus on our block at Divisadero and transfer to the "22" in Pacific Heights. In the opposite direction it goes to Noe Valley, Bernal Heights and Hunter’s

Point. You can see the bus maps here: http://transit.511.org/static/providers/maps/SF_1222201020400.gif

The "N Judah" Muni Trolley is a five block walk away at Duboce Park. The trolley is a great choice as it goes from one end of city to another. Beach to Bay. It travels east down to the financial district, and South of Market terminating at the grand Ferry Building with access to ferries that serve Oakland, Alameda and Sausalito. The trolley travels west to Ocean Beach and along the south border of Golden Gate park. http://www.sfmta.com/cms/asystem/routedesc.php?rted=N

The "F line" historic streetcar line is a seven block walk away and runs down Market Street in old restored street cars. It terminates in the north Waterfront area by Pier 39 where you can get ferries to Alcatraz and Angel Island. This is my favorite way to get to Pier 39 and the waterfront. You can see more about this great ride here:    http://www.streetcar.org/museums-in-motion/

The 7 bus, and N and F trolley lines all stop near the Powell Street Cable Car line which is the emblematic San Francisco public transpiration option that goes up and over Nob Hill to the waterfront: http://www.sfcablecar.com/routes.html

The 7 bus, and N and F trolley lines also stop at multiple points along Market Street for BART subway access which in turn travels from the airport, through San Francisco to deep into the East Bay: http://www.bart.gov/stations/index.aspx

Car Rental

There is also walking access to a dozen ZipCar stations if you want to use a car for a day. You can register for zipcar and see locations here: http://zipcar.com

Parking

There is no dedicated parking, but free street parking is usually available in the immediate neighborhood. Be mindful of the street sweeping signs. For two hours each week you will get ticketed for parking in a street sweeping zone. On Haight parking is available without a permit. These tend to be the spots that go first.

When parallel parking on a hill be careful to turn your wheels into the curb or you may get a ticket.

Head in parking. On Waller, just south of Haight running parallel and on Baker there is head-in parking which creates plenty of spaces. Baker Street and the side of Buena Vista park are also head-in parking but with permits required for day parking.

If you park in a permit area overnight, you still have two hours from the start of the day to park for free. So you can stay in a permit zone until 10am in the morning, then move your car. You can start parking there as early as 4pm and park free for then two hours as well.

In practice, they rarely ticket for permit violations, but always ticket for street sweeping violations and often “wheel not turned in”.

Paid Lot. If you cannot find any street parking there is a paid lot in the DMV parking lot on Broderick between Oak and Fell. Go two blocks north on Broderick and you’ll see it on the left. You can park there weekdays from 5pm until 7am and weekends from 5pm until 9am.

House Notes

Check in is after 4pm and check out at noon. Quite hours are from 10pm to 7am.

Absolutely NO SMOKING OR VAPING ANYWHERE on the premises.

There are two heaters, on in each room. Each has an on and off switch and thermostat. They are passive circulatory heaters and for best results turn the ceiling fan on low to blow the heated air downward.

There are two waste bins under the sink, one for garbage and one for recycling. If you need to empty the bins, the waste cans are under the outside stairs in the backyard. To get to the back yard go through the gates to the right of the house.

There is a free laundry room under the back stairs. Look for two gray steel doors to the left of the walk way.

Why Anthony chose San Francisco

We immediately fell in love the neighborhood because of the fantastic restaurants and easy access to three of the city's best parks.

What makes this apartment unique

The thing we love most about our home is the voluminous feel. The high ceilings, Victorian details and big floor plans makes the home feel very comfortable and elegant.

It is also super centrally located near spectacular parks or for visitors very close to great public transportation.

Great location and very beautiful apartment!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed very much the very well furnished and decorated apartment and it's great location. Wonderful bed and perfectly equiped. The only issue was the temperature inside when we arrived. Heating had not been put on and the temperature was around 65. The fairly small heating equipment did not allow to warm up the apartment fast. Temperature had reached 70 the next morning only

what a gem

  • 5 of 5

lovely apartment, quintessential SF experience, lots of interesting restaurants within walking distance; very neat and clean, nice fluffy towels, all the necessary small kitchen appliances; bathroom is quite small... it worked for us, but others may find it more difficult to maneuver around in there

Great location in San Fransisco

  • 4 of 5

Great appartement and good location to visit San francisco.

Bus stop is at 2 min, easy to go to Market Street (And then join Fisherman's wharf, China town, Pier 33). Not so fare from Golden Gate Park, and the Pacific.

If you walk to Buena Vista park, you will see some of beautiful houses and little market.

We were 7 and the space was enough. 2 bathrooms and washing machine : very good!

Really enjoyed the place, easy commute (bus, tram...) anywhere in SF. True SF experience and lifestyle. Good restaurant around the house. Large enough for 2 families. Clearly recommend.

Nice Stay In The Haight

  • 4 of 5

This house in the Lower Haight District is centrally located close to several restaurants, small grocery stores and pubs. A short bus ride took us to the Haight Ashbury District, which boasts both high-end and vintage/thrift stores, as well as eateries, record shops and pubs. The buses are a 5 or 6 block walk and run fairly often to pretty much anywhere you want to go. The flat itself we found to be laid out very well for the four of us, and the kitchen was well appointed with most of what we needed to dine in. The drawback here might be the small 2-cup coffeemaker, which was hardly adequate for four coffee drinkers. The main negative to point out regarding this flat is that it was generally unclean. After walking around in socks or bare feet for 5 minutes, our feet were literally black with dirt! There was visible dirt around the edges of the rooms, suggesting it had been some time since it had been given a thorough cleaning. Since we did pay a cleaning deposit, one wonders what it was used for? The sound of people walking upstairs was very noticeable, especially in the morning, though this could be typical of these older homes. Also, there was a barking dog on the premises, especially in the morning, which was definitely a distraction. All in all, a pretty pleasant 5-day stay in San Francisco.

Owner's Response: This review deserves a response on a few points. First factual: The bus stop is not 5 -6 blocks away. It is one half a block away. You can clearly see this on the map and I do not know why they walked five blocks for a bus. On cleaning, the flat is professionally cleaned and floors mopped for every guest. The reviewer barbecued in the back yard and tracked a noticeable amount of dirt into the kitchen. This was most likely the cause of the mystery dirt on their socks. As for the dirt along edges of the rooms, we did a full inspection and failed to find anything untoward except dust under the beds which we corrected. We take cleanliness very seriously. The professional cleaners have a thirty point check-list for the flat. As you can see from the literally hundreds of five star reviews, many that praise our cleanliness, this reviewer is mistaken. The one oversight we will cop to is the 2 cup coffee maker. The prior guests broke the four cup unit and all we had in reserve was the two cup model. The choice was that or no coffee maker. So we’re sure the reviewer appreciated us supply him with free Pete’s coffee, cream and sugar, though he forgot to mention that.

Awesome Stay !!

  • 5 of 5

Our first "longer" stop on our West Coast roadtrip and we couldn't have found a better place to come to a rest and explore SF. The appartment was as awesome as in the pictures and there were plenty of helpful information waiting for us upon arrival. The owner was very fast and patient with every question we had. One day we followed his tipps and explored the area by foot and public transportation which was an awesome experience. Definitely a place to come back to !!
