Friendly Playa Flamingo will entice you
The beaches and surrounding scenery provide a peaceful ambiance to your vacation home in Playa Flamingo. This city's restaurants, bars and snorkeling attract many visitors, and its welcoming and relaxing location add to the charm. Coco Beach and Tamarindo Beach are just a couple of the must-sees in the area. If you're looking for accommodations with space to entertain friends and family, HomeAway has plenty of options to choose from. Many rental homes offer full kitchens and laundry facilities, perfect for big groups.
Eating out in Playa Flamingo
Attractions are a little thin on the ground in Playa Flamingo: it's more about the sand, sea and sun. In fact, photographers have long been coming to the Nicoya Peninsula and Guanacaste to snap the spectacular seascapes, though it's a tough job to truly capture it. If you fancy a day away from the beach, you can hop into the Playa Flamingo shopping plaza for a little retail therapy and pick up souvenirs to take home. Alternatively, Playa Flamingo vacation rentals are never far from the seafood joints which serve up fresh catches of the day in gorgeous surroundings.
Ocean-going activities at Playa Flamingo
With the only full-service marina between the stretch of coast that runs from Panama in the south all the way up to Acapulco in Mexico, it's no wonder there are countless possibilities for ocean-going activities. When you stay in a Playa Flamingo vacation rental, consider hiring a yacht and skipper for a day to cruise along the gorgeous coastline. Alternatively, you can don flippers and a mask to dive down for close encounters with many creatures of the deep, or cast in your line and try to reel in a trophy fish to take back home.
Look for a pause in the rain at Playa Flamingo
The best time to visit Costa Rica weather-wise is between December and April, when the skies are bright, the weather warm and the rains almost non-existent. It's no wonder with the cold winter snaps back home that it's also the busiest time to stay in a Playa Flamingo vacation rental. If you don't mind the odd tropical downpour, you can score a rental at seriously knocked-down rates between May and November. Pro tip: the rains stop briefly between June and July and during these months the interior just back from the shore is lush and green.
Leatherback turtles in Playa Flamingo
When you stay in a Playa Flamingo vacation rental, you're just a hop, skip and jump from Santa Rosa, the first national park in Costa Rica. The 50,000 hectares of forest and marshland provide habitats for a surprisingly large number of critters. Amongst the lush greenery, you'll catch a glimpse of many of the 100 or so mammals that roam the forest, 250 species of avifauna and plenty of reptiles and amphibians. There are simply too many to list, but look out for jaguars, collared peccaries and magnificent leatherback turtles. We haven't even started on the 10,000 species of insects.
