Travel to captivating Sparks
Enjoy the entertainment and other features of Sparks. Travelers to this welcoming city praise the casino gaming, restaurants and shopping. If you need more space to accommodate a family vacation or friends trip, rental homes often come with separate dining areas and spacious living rooms.
Enjoy a night (or afternoon) at the museum
There's a museum for everything here it seems! Be sure to check out the Sparks Heritage Museum for exhibits on local history and the town's railroad heritage, as well as the National Automobile Museum and the Nevada Museum of Art. Get hands-on with science at the Terry Lee Wells Nevada Discovery Museum and the Fleischmann Planetarium. If you prefer animal encounters, head to the Sierra Safari Zoo or the Animal Ark wildlife sanctuary. No trip to Nevada would be complete without a little gambling, so head to the Nugget Casino Resort in town, or any of the many casinos in neighboring Reno.
From bowling and balloons to boating and blackjack
Sparks certainly isn't lacking in variety. Downtown you'll find casinos and shopping for the indoorsy types, while the outdoorsy ones can head to Sparks Marina Park for swimming, windsurfing, and sailing on the water, or walking, biking, and picnicking on land. Mt. Rose at world-famous Lake Tahoe offers top-notch skiing. Play a few frames on one of the 78 lanes at the National Bowling Stadium, or take in a minor league baseball game. Time your visit to coincide with one of the annual events like the rib cook-off or the Great Reno Balloon Race.
Vast temperature swings make for interesting packing
It's not uncommon for temperatures to vary as much as 45 degrees in a single day, so be sure to pack plenty of layers for your Sparks vacation rental. Highs are usually in the 80s and 90s from June through September, in the 40s in the coldest months of January and February, and range anywhere from the 50s to 70s the rest of the year. Nighttime temps rarely top 60 degrees, even on the warmest days. Low humidity and sun are typical year round, and you can expect very little rain, and at best a dusting of snow.
Explore the land of the natural pyramids
Expect to see plenty of mountainous terrain around your Sparks vacation rental. With the vast Sierra Nevadas just over the California border to the west and famous Lake Tahoe to the south, there are more than enough peaks to satisfy all your skiing and hiking needs. Tucked in the Truckee Meadows valley, Sparks lies just south of Pyramid Lake, named for the uniquely shaped rock formations that grace its shores. You'll also find a colony of American white pelicans who call the lake home, not to mention plenty of fish (some endangered).
