History, art and lavender farms
There's a wealth of history to discover in the 'Crossroads of Texas'. The Blanco County Jail, near the Memorial Town Park, was completed in the late 19th century, and though it's no longer in use, it offers a glimpse back to times gone by. The surrounding countryside around the city is famed for its lavender farms, and one of the best times to stay in a Johnson City vacation rental is during the annual Lavender Festival. There's also a strong artist community and an abundance of galleries from Kathleen Marie Studio to the Kirchman Gallery to explore.
