The town may be small, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in historic architecture. Museum lovers will want to spend some time wandering through the Municipal Museum or the Paper Mill Museum. For wonders of a more natural variety, head to the stunning Emerald Grotto nearby.

The lows in the coolest months of November to April drop into the 40s overnight, so you'll probably want to pack layers. You'll generally never have to worry about snow, though (but this is when you'll get the most rain). Summers are much drier, with plenty of sunshine and highs in the mid-70s to mid-80s from June through September, making it the perfect time to take a dip in the cool sea waters.
